We're Helping Kings Manor Kids Make Buddies

Recess can be tough — especially if you’re the new kid. That won’t be a problem at Kings Manor Elementary because of our recent donation of a Buddy Bench.

Growing in popularity at schools around the country, a Buddy Bench — also known as a friendship bench — provides students with a safe space to foster friendships. Buddy Benches let kids know that another child wants to play. Children already playing are encouraged to look over at the bench and invite anyone sitting on it to join their group.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Kings Manor Principal Stacey Paine and Assistant Principal Christy Tolbert. Sarah Herd, our Community Ambassador, and HOA board member Aaron Herd also were on hand. More importantly, we had the pleasure of showing a class of third grade students the Buddy Bench and explain its role in helping kids make new friends.

Donating the Buddy Bench is just one of the ways Woodridge Forest supports our young residents and the schools they attend. In addition to Kings Manor, kids attend on-site Woodridge Forest Middle School and Porter High School. St. Martha’s Catholic School is just down the road for parents seeking a religious-based education for their children.
