New Caney ISD Students Return to School After Hurricane Harvey
As everyone in the greater Houston area is aware, in late August Hurricane Harvey settled over Houston and caused massive flooding in many metro areas. Due to this severe weather event, the New Caney ISD made the decision to delay the start of the 2017-2018 school year. On Sept. 6, nearly 15,000 students attended their first day of school at New Caney ISD campuses after the delay. Schools affected by this change included Kings Manor Elementary, Woodridge Forest Middle School and Porter High School, which serve Woodridge Forest. The schools are now following full academic schedules and extracurricular activities are ongoing, including athletics, choir performances and more. As a member of the New Caney ISD community, Woodridge Forest offers our best wishes for a happy and prosperous school year to students in the district.
