Can a person be an amenity? If that person is Sarah Herd, our Woodridge Forest Community Ambassador, the answer is a resounding “Yes”!
It’s Sarah’s job to add an extra layer of fun to your life in Woodridge Forest, as well as making neighbors more neighborly through the 15+ events she organizes throughout the year.
Take our National Night Out celebration in November, for example. It was only our second one, but Sarah made sure there was something for everyone to enjoy as residents got to know local law enforcement, first responders and each other.
The event featured members of the Montgomery County Constables Office, the Porter Fire Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Hospital District, Houston ATF and Air 1 medical. In addition to learning what local officers and first responders do, residents were able to explore a number of emergency vehicles including patrol cars, a SWAT truck, a fire engine, an ambulance and a K-9 unit.
Residents even got to climb aboard an Air Med helicopter — something under normal circumstances they might never get to do!
Other activities included bounce houses, a coloring station and prize drawings. A variety of vendors were on hand, as well as Mingos Latin Food Truck. Silly Fotos snapped complimentary photos. The night ended with residents relaxing on the community event lawn for a showing of the movie “Captain Underpants.”
It was a huge event and a huge success. But, Sarah isn’t one to rest on her laurels. She’s already planning a series of fun holiday events, including our annual Milk and Cookies with Santa event and our first ever Holiday Lights Contest, both on Dec. 16. She’s also helping out Santa Claus by making sure his mail gets to the North Pole through our Letters to Santa mailbox!
So while we know you’ll love our resort-style pool, our stocked fishing ponds, our new trails and the opportunity to be part of the Kingwood Service Association, we think you’ll agree that our Community Ambassador is the best amenity of all.
