National Night Out is Back Bigger Than Ever Oct. 1

Our 2018 National Night Out festivities were big — with 700+ people in attendance. And this year, it looks to be even bigger. The 4th Annual National Night Out event in Woodridge Forest happens 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the community center, 22525 Soaring Woods Lane in Porter. Local law enforcement and first responders will be out — as usual — bringing with them an array of vehicles such as squad cars, a firetruck, a distracted driving rollover convincer and ambulance. There will even be a helicopter present. Plus, eventgoers can learn more about crime scene investigations, crime lab operations and 911 communications, as well as talk with SWAT and game warden officials.

There will be plenty of activities for the children, with elementary school kids especially loving the chance to get their teachers wet in a dunk tank that the Kings Manor Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization is setting up as a fundraiser. Kona Ice will have sweet treats and Woodridge Forest builders will have fun giveaways. The event is open to the public, so make sure to tell friends and family.
